Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney came through in the clutch and scored the victory at Talladega Superspeedway. With the thrilling performance in the closing laps, Blaney clinched his spot in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Round of 8. Driving the No. 12 Menards / Pennzoil Ford Mustang, Blaney made a daring move from the outside to the inside lane to take the lead with two laps remaining. Blaney then held off the competition on the final lap as he crossed beneath the checkered flag just 0.012-seconds ahead of the runner-up.
