JR Motorsports driver Sammy Smith scored a clutch last-lap victory at Talladega Superspeedway to advance to the NASCAR Xfinity Series® Playoffs Round of 8. Smith entered the Talladega race last of the eligible Playoff drivers battling to lock into the next round, but he masterfully worked his way forward from deep in the field and was in contention as the laps clicked towards the checkered flag. On the final lap, Smith worked his No. 8 TMC Transportation Chevrolet Camaro to the front of his drafting line and benefitted from a strong push from behind to clear the competition and earned his second NASCAR Xfinity Series® victory and first with JR Motorsports.
