There’s more than one reason they call him “The King”. One of them is that he is the only driver in the history of NASCAR® to have conquered the DAYTONA 500® – the ultimate test of a racer’s mettle – seven times. In 1981, Richard Petty had just recovered from a broken neck suffered in a crash the previous season. His team had switched from driving Oldsmobiles on Superspeedways to Buicks. And NASCAR® had just made a rule change that impacted the wheelbases. With the odds stacked against him, Petty bided his time during the race, and made his move at the end, staying out during a pit stop and then not taking tires when other drivers did. The result? His seventh win in the DAYTONA 500® and the first win for Buick since 1956. Now Lionel Racing is excited to offer the Raced Win die-cast of Petty’s 1981 Daytona 500 Win car. This car has never been offered as a replica die-cast before until now!
